Ajani (Angel) McMullen-Williams greatest strength is her dedication to assisting clients in overcoming personal and systematic barriers to living a life of personal fulfillment. She is strongly committed to supporting individuals through personal challenges that impact their mental wellbeing, sense of self-agency in life, and ability to achieve fulfillment in romantic and familial relationships. She believes that a therapist must uphold a style that honors and respects all aspects of a person’s cultural background, racial and ethnic identity, spiritual or religious beliefs, sexuality, and gender identity. Consequently, her approach is informed by frameworks that embrace cultural inclusivity, trauma-informed methods, sex positivity, LGBTQ+ affirming methods, relational modalities, and therapeutic interventions that address chronic and acute mental health conditions.

Angel is trained in and utilizes evidence-based clinical methods such as Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. She is committed to maintaining the highest standards of care by constantly updating herself about the most effective treatments based on scientific research.

Angel began her career providing individual and group counseling for at-risk students at High Schools in Brooklyn, NY. Following this work, she provided individual and group therapy to people impacted by HIV at an LGBTQ+ nonprofit organization located in Manhattan, NY.  Most recently, she spent three years at a community mental health clinic in Brooklyn, NY, where she provided individual and family psychotherapy to children and adults.

Angel is a licensed social worker in Pennsylvania. She received an MSW from New York University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Human Sexuality at Widener University.
