Teresa Thompson, LPC, now has availability for individual therapy, couples therapy, and art therapy both in person and through tele-health. 

Teresa helps clients feel seen, understood and empowered.

Maybe you want to make some changes in your life but haven’t been able to do so on your own. Perhaps you’ve been feeling irritable, stressed-out, or have not been feeling like yourself and just need to talk to someone. 

Teresa’s therapy approach is collaborative. She works with you as a team, and has many of years of experience helping people find more happiness.

Teresa works with you to identify areas that can improve your quality of life. In addition to traditional individual and couples therapy, she offers the opportunity to integrate art therapy projects into your work if you prefer to express yourself non-verbally. 

She focuses on building on strengths you already have as well as teaching new skills.

Teresa believes that each individual is an expert in their own lives and has the strength and potential to create the change they want to see.

Based on your unique needs and preferences, Teresa offers a combination of approaches, including art therapy, Gottman Method (for couples), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), parts work,  and existential therapy .

Teresa’s specialties include depression, anxiety, relationships and communication, self-esteem, conflict management and Acquired Brain Injuries (including TBI, stroke and concussion). 

In-person counseling sessions take place in Bryn Mawr, PA, a Philadelphia Suburb, and tele-health sessions are available if you live in the state of Pennsylvania

Experience and Training

Teresa is Gottman trained and has worked in private practice, non-profit and hospital setting with individuals facing a wide range of difficulties. She is the former Director of the Kardon Center for Arts Therapy at Settlement Music School.

Teresa is trained as a Licensed Professional Counselor and graduated with a Masters in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has completed Level 2 Gottman Training.

Finding the right therapist can sometimes be a challenge, so the best way to proceed is to talk to your counseling before scheduling your fist session to see if it’s a good fit.
