Our intake coordinator will answer your questions and schedule a 15-minute consultation with a potential therapist to help determine whether it feels like a good fit.

Your first therapy session focuses on getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and clarifying your goals. Your therapist will ask questions to help guide the treatment process and begin developing a plan tailored to your needs.

All clinicians at Main Line Counseling Partners are trained to create a comfortable, supportive, and judgment-free environment during the initial assessment.

You do not need to know this in advance. During your initial consultation and first session, your therapist will help assess your concerns and recommend an evidence-based approach tailored to your goals.

Yes. Therapy is confidential, and your privacy is protected according to each clinician’s professional code of ethics. Your therapist will review confidentiality and its limits during your free consultation so you know what to expect.

Yes. Finding the right therapeutic fit is important. If you feel your therapist is not the best match, our intake team can help you explore other clinician options.

Therapy Services & Approaches

Main Line Counseling Partners offers individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and pediatric psychological testing. Our clinicians are trained in evidence-based approaches, including Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Children, Teens & Family Services

Yes. We offer child therapy, teen counseling, and family therapy. A child psychologist on our team also provides psychological testing, including ADHD testing and IQ testing.

Yes. We provide psychological assessment services for both children and adults. Dr. Meghan Prato can help determine whether an evaluation is appropriate and explain the assessment process in more detail.

Session Length, Scheduling & Availability

Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes, and couples therapy sessions are usually 80 minutes. Psychological testing appointments vary based on the type of assessment and the client’s age.

If you have scheduling preferences or concerns, our intake coordinator (make an appointment here) can help match you with a clinician whose availability fits your needs.

Many clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and trust. As you make progress, sessions may become less frequent. We’ll work together to find a schedule that feels right for you.

Currently Teresa Thompson provides Intensive Couples Therapy on weekends but availability is extremely limited. Our intake coordinator can help you explore current scheduling options and connect you with a therapist whose availability aligns with your needs.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask that you provide 24 hours advance notice to avoid a late cancellation fee. Your therapist will review specific scheduling and cancellation policies during your first session.

Online Therapy & Accessibility

Yes. We offer secure telehealth therapy for individuals and couples across Pennsylvania. Online therapy provides the same level of care as in-person sessions while offering added flexibility and convenience.

Yes. Research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many concerns. Our secure telehealth services allow clients across Pennsylvania to access high-quality care from the comfort of home. Please mention your preference of on-line or in-person therapy during your initial phone call with our intake coordinator.

Location & Practice Information

Our office is located at 1084 East Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, (a Philadelphia suburb). We are conveniently located on the Main Line and serve clients from Villanova, Haverford, and the greater Philadelphia area.

We also provide secure online therapy for clients throughout Pennsylvania.

Main Line Counseling Partners is a small group psychology practice offering personalized care and collaboration among highly trained clinicians. Clients may choose between in-person therapy in Bryn Mawr or online therapy within Pennsylvania.

Our therapists participate in ongoing consultation and advanced training to ensure a high standard of clinical care.

Fees, Insurance & Payment

We are an out-of-network practice and do not bill insurance directly. We provide detailed receipts that you may submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.

We do not offer free therapy. Sliding-scale reduced rates may be available on a case-by-case basis and can be discussed directly with your clinician.
