Laura Silverstein, LCSW is the co-owner and clinical director of Main Line Counseling Partners, and author of Love Is an Action Verb.  She has over 30 years of experience successfully helping stressed-out individuals, families and couples make changes to feel happier and more connected.

The current mental health crisis has made it very difficult for couples to find expert relationship advice. Not everyone can access (or needs) private couples therapy with a relational psychology specialist.

Silverstein started her journey as a helping professional early, having earned her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Skidmore College, and volunteering at a social service agency in Fiji immediately after college.  She earned her Master of Social Work from University of Connecticut and has been licensed in Pennsylvania since 1998.

She completed a post-graduate externship at America’s leading family therapy training facility, the Philadelphia Child Guidance Training Center, founded by Dr. Salvadore Minuchin.

She went on to study under Drs. John and Julie Gottman, undisputed leaders in the field of relationship research and couples therapy, whose ground-breaking research enables them to predict divorce with 90% accuracy.

Ms Silverstein completed the highest level of clinical training available at the Gottman Institute, the certification practicum requiring peer-reviewed video-tape assessment.  She is also a certified Gottman Method Trainer.

This expertise informs her education and clinical approach. 

While her success owes much to advanced education and training from the masters in the field, even more important is her ability to genuinely connect with her students and clients with her warm approachable style.
